I Smell DOOM!! It's Green & Wood...

Green & Wood

"Self-Titled"

(2009)

These Los Angeles Doomsters know exactly what they're doing on their debut LP,

"Green & Wood", and that's bring the HEAVY DOOM reminiscent of Sabbath, Sleep, Pentagram, and Witchcraft.  They are so good at doing it that its also a very enjoyable romp through everything from early 70's Heavy Prog, Blues Rock to modern day Stoner doom. The band is capable of writing great songs with cool arrangements and if they continue to find their own niche in songwriting, the next album could be a masterpiece up there with the 70's classics they so obviously worship. If you love Stoner Doom with a 70's edge and you are a fan of Witchcraft and Graveyard you will eat this one up. This album is a grower and I expect to see this high up on the top 10 lists for 2009, I know some people will be freaking out grooving to this album.

Here's a little Sample...

SuperHeavyGoatAss - "Thirty Five"

Let the good times roll!

The Almighty.... Superheavygoatass. Austin's Finest in Stoner Rock!

Superheavygoatass

"60,000 Years"

2005

"Super Heavy Goat Ass have a straightforward rock style. There's melody to their songs, giving 60,000 Years an immediate accessibility. They may barrel down on you from time to time, but you're still going to be humming the songs afterwards. And with two guitarists, there are ample opportunities for solos. Super Heavy Goat Ass' 60,000 Years is a solid, 100% rock album, with southern attitude and a hell of a swagger. It's no frills, no bullshit music. If that's your thing, then you'll be spinning this one quite a bit. File them amongst Hognose, Sasquatch, and the like."

Arzgarth

Take it from Austin, Plumber, Me and about all of Texas... This is fucking STONER ROCK AT IT'S BEST!!!  Their live shows rule.  If you're a fan of SUPLECS, You'll be very satisfied!  And GO SEE THEM WHEN THEY COME TO YOUR CITY!!!

Soulsavers

"Broken"

(2009)

2009 release, the third album from the acclaimed British Electronic rockers featuring vocal and musical assistance from Mark Lanegan, Will Oldham, Jason Pierce, Richard Hawley, Gibby Haynes and Mike Patton. Soulsavers began as more of an electronic affair, with Rich Machin partnering with studio engineer Ian Glover. Their sophomore album, It's Not How Far You Fall, It's How You Land set a new benchmark, threading Soul, Gospel, Rock, Jazz and Country into the mix and a matching spread of singers. Now, you must be prepared to follow Soulsavers even further, for Broken is even better, a future classic that delivers 13 tracks of wide-ranging majesty. Lanegan handles vocals on 10 of the album's tracks, joined by many guest collaborators

Re-Post: Turn Me On Dead Man!!

Turn Me On Dead Man

"Technicolour Mother"

(2006)

INCREDIBLY Heavy San Francisco band that takes
their name from a misheard phrase
that was actually "Backwards Masked" on the
end of the Beatles' "Strawberry
Fields Forever" and on its second full length
release the garage-psychedelia
outfit Turn Me On Dead Man does not disappoint.
TECHNICOLOUR MOTHER is a
well crafted machine of super heavy
psychedelia, with bits of tuned down
"Bleach"-era Nirvana on the track "67 Dreams".
This record is a must have for any
fan of Jucifer in the "I Name You Destroyer"
days. Heavy as hell with incredible
garagey, tuned down, and sludgy pop
sensibilities!
Jello Biafra knew exactly what he was doing
when he signed them to Alternative
Tentacles.

To wet your appetite....KEELHAUL II LP

Keelhaul

"II"

2000

Since they're playing Cactus Club tomorrow night (8/25/10) I thought I'd give you some love with this lovely LP from Clevo's finest!

This is a personal favorite of mine from Keelhaul.  10 years!?!  I guess it has been a good ten years before this ridiculously heavy record came out.  These dudes hail from Cleveland, OH and play a mathier style of sludge.  Say...The Melvins meets Coalesce.

ENJOY

Thank you Rolling Stone!!

FUCKING AWESOME!
