SPACECRIME
"Da Murder House"
Spacecrime Productions
2014
To celebrate what has now been in the works for what feels like years now, Milwaukee duo, J. Brander (aka Jet Jaguar) and Z. Chappelle (aka Chet Chedder), have been grinding away making twisted, tripped-out, drug-fueled compositions from all different facets of sound and music. It must be nice having an arsenal of tracks that Spacecrime has been logging over the past couple years, THESE are the 15 tracks they decided to bless us with. Armed with a SP-303, turntables, and SAMPLES SAMPLES SAMPLES, SPACECRIME is mixing and mashing sounds that may be familiar to the keen ear, but don't let that fool you. The duo's minimalistic approach to their atmospheric beat production is incredibly refreshing on the debut 2014 LP, "Da Murder House". Already catapulting them into a beautiful and refreshing new realm only seen by very few that have attempted this sort of music before. You can hear hip-hop, kraut-rock, prog, jazz, punk, breaks, soul and much much more all laced up with a heaping serving of Sci-Fi and Horror overtones. John Brander and Zach Chappelle have all but mastered the art of what some would call "Soundtrack" music. Tracks such as "Bad Blood" , "Night Nomads" (My personal favorite) , and "Man in the High Castle" harken back to the days of an early RJD2 or MADLIB. This LP is just BEGGING to be laced with an emcee. Something you can bang at full volume or something to make love to your old lady by. WINK! "Da Murder House" appeals to anyone and everyone that has an appreciation for all things beautiful, disgusting...PREPARE for a glorious, nightmarish, romp into the realms of your mind. THIS is Psychedelic. THIS is HEAVY. If you're a fan of DJ Shadow, J-Dilla, Planet Asia and Madlib...I'm certain you'll be rocking the hell out of "Da Murder House" in no time!
"Who do you think you are...?? Mike Patton?"
